East Coast trains is teaming up with online dating website Match.com to give singles across London and the South East the chance to take part in the first ever dating event to be held on a train.
The East Coast Love Train will begin its journey from London’s King’s Cross station on Saturday 13 September, with up to 200 single men and women making the return journey to York, all looking for love.
DJ Scott Mills will play the role of matchmaker and host on-board, giving participants on The East Coast Love Train chance to put their chat-up skills to the test as he makes his way through the carriages, hosting this unique event over the train’s PA system.
Scott Mills said: “A singles dating event on a train – what’s not to love! I’m really excited to roam the carriages of the Love Train and play matchmaker. Hopefully I’ll help people looking for love find their perfect partner.”
The East Coast Love Train has already seen an overwhelming response from match.com members, and follows a recent survey of train travellers by East Coast , which found one in ten people asked had found love and romance during a journey by train – more than on the roads or in the air.
“This fun event is not about falling instantly in love; we just want people to have a good time, meet new people and find out for themselves why travelling with East Coast is the way to go. Maybe, just maybe, one or two people on this very special train might just meet that special someone!”
Once the love hopefuls arrive in York, they can choose to join in pre-planned fun activities, or simply explore the historic city for themselves. The event will also be captured on film by East Coast, which is producing a movie memento of the day, so everyone can see what the lucky passengers on The Love Train got up to.
Match.com managing director Karl Gregory said: “We’re delighted to be offering our members the chance to take part in this exciting fun-filled dating event. We regularly run activity based events for our lovely singles as we know that shared interests are a great icebreaker. With the variety of entertainment and activities planned throughout the day, we’ve no doubt that our members will have a great time with East Coast Trains!”
The response for participants has been phenomenal – way more than the places available – and there are just a few final places available for The East Coast Love Train by entering a social media-based competition.
